Entrepreneurs Basecamp 2007Photos and video from the 2007 campAnother successful Entrepreneurs Basecamp is behind us. Everyone agreed the experience was one of intensive growth and learning, and not just for the attendees only, but for the mentors and presenters as well. The three and a half days of intensive real-world entrepreneurial and business skills learning culminated in a task whereby all participants could put their new skills immediately to practical application Sleep was lost, nerves were frayed, mentors were equally helpfully critical and supportively terrifying whilst some great ideas were conceived, thrashed out and moulded into believable real-world concepts The aim of the task was for each team to "sell" their concept to a panel of financial providers and venture capitalists. Each team were given ten minutes to make their pitch to the panel which was made up of actual leading business people, venture capitalists, business banking executives and investment specialists. Teams were then given a further ten minutes to answer questions from the panel. The 14 member panel scored each team on the strength of their business concept and planning and financials and how well all the challenges and issues raised during questioning were dealt with. The challenge was huge given that the pitches were prepared in only a few days from intial conception and that the teams were secluded in the country with minimal resources. However the winning teams demonstrated that it could be done convincingly and with spectacular style.
