Information For Industry  And Government

How do we participate?

There are 3 ways to get involved with our program.

1. Pregraduate programs
2. Mentoring
3. Sponsorship

Pregraduate Programs

There are two areas of pre-graduate programs within Advantage:

  • Team projects that work on non-core business activities
  • Single pre-graduate placements for students to work in core areas of business activity

Advantage creates a mutually beneficial relationship with the business/client via a structured intern program that can be translated into the academic degree for credit and/or accessed by students needing experience outside the academic degree.

Alliances

The key to the success of Advantage is the creation of alliances, from the small businesses taking on just one intern at a time up to our major corporate partners who support entire AELC projects.

We build the program relationship by relationship. Starting small and changing the program as problems or opportunities become apparent. Advantage is built on mutually beneficial partnerships.

Support

Both the team projects and single internship placements are monitored and supported through AELC. All participants are pre and post assessed against the ACCI Employability Skills Framework and a diary is kept throughout the process. The student has access to a human resources officer, IT support, marketing and management staff.

Companies are supported via mentor training and development. A process is in place for all mentors and clients to manage their interns in the most effective manner.

Mentoring and Sponsorship

Advantage has many opportunities for organisations to become involved through program mentoring and project sponsorship. Staff have the opportunity to mentor young people and in doing so are increasing their coaching and mentoring skills. Research demonstrates that effective mentoring is a necessary skill for all leaders.

Programs like Entrepreneurs Basecamp and Business Icon have state and national media coverage and are actively promoted through campuses Australia wide. This means that companies have the opportunity to gain significant coverage in youth target markets.
